Q: Why is this contest called a short short story contest?
A: The stories have to be told using 98 words or less.
Q: Why 98 words or less?
A: This contest is being held in conjunction with the Hot Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau's The First Ever Fifth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade occurs on Bridge Street which is 98 feet long. It was decided that 98 words would be a good length for the short short stories.
Q: What's the story behind this contest?
A: The Fine Arts Center wants to get the attention of all artists in this area and has created this contest to help encourage writers to become a larger part of the art scene. A joint effort by The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs, National Park Community College, and the Hot Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau, this contest is meant to challenge writers.
Q: Who are the judges?
A: A three judge panel will pick the prize winning entries. Click here to meet the judges
Q: What do I have to do to enter this contest?
A: Write your story (it might not be as easy as it sounds) and submit your entries (up to three). For full requirements see Short Short Story Rules and Requirements. |
Q: Why is there an entry fee of $1.00 per story?
A: The $1.00 per story entry fee should not pose a hardship on anyone and will help to keep the judges from being overwhelmed by a huge number of entrants if there was no fee. The monies collected from this fee will help offset the costs of this contest. |
