Contest FAQs
This short short story contest culminates at the
2008 March 17th Hot Springs Sixth Annual Shortest St. Patrick's Day Bridge Street Parade.

A panel of three judges will select one winner to be announced on the parade review platform.
The winning writer will receive a grand prize of
$98, and, perhaps, a short trophy.

$98 prize money and 98 word limit story derive from the 98 foot length of Bridge Street.

Entry requirements for
2008 First Ever First Annual Fine Arts Center Short Short Story Contest

Entry Deadline is February 10, 2008

Entry fee: $1.00 per story up to three.

Entrants must be 16 years of age or older.

Entries must be submitted in American standard English and shall not be racist, demeaning, pornographic, etc.

Eligible stories for this contest will:
  • Be the original creation of the entrant.
  • Use not more than 98 words.
  • Have a title of two or more words.
  • Be on one page.
  • Have a setting.
  • Have one or more characters.
  • Have some conflict (internal or external), and a resolution.
Three letter-size copies of each story must accompany the official entry form. These copies shall contain only the story title and the story. No other information shall appear on these pages.

Decisions of the judges are final.

*A souvenir book is planned; to minimize transcription errors writers may be asked to resubmit their stories via e-mail for use in this book or for The Fine Arts Center web site www.hsfac.com.
