The Ralph Michaelis
2011 Summer Art Camp scholarship recipient

Avery Parker
  • The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs (FAC) announced the recipient: meet Avery Lauren Parker, daughter of Ryan and Tabitha Parker of Glen Rose. Avery has a zest for life that is unmatched by any other. She loves adventure and is eager for any challenge thrown her way. She enjoys gymnastics, ice skating, swimming and any medium of art. She had to miss this past January’s session of Wonderful Wednesdays through FAC due to an acute case of mononucleosis. Avery’s art instruction has included pottery, drawing and oil painting with art teacher, Ms. Nina Louton who finds the eight year old quite talented and creative.

Ralph Michaelis, an important local artist, believed art to be an essential part of education. Funds are still being generated for the Ralph Michaelis Scholarship Fund by friends and family. FAC is always looking for donations for more scholarships as several children apply for these scholarships every year.

The children's program is a high priority we would like to expand as funds become available. At less than $8 an hour, supplies alone exceed the cost for this 32 hour camp. It would not be possible without donations, sponsorships, and grants. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please contact the Children's Art Committee: Nina Louton 622-3100, 620-0303, or aoriginals@hotmail.com or The Fine Arts Center 624-0489 or info@hsfac.org. Art Camp happens the last two weeks of June every year with an following exhibit. Professional artists provide instruction with six or less students per group in drawing, pottery, and several painting mediums. The students will exhibit on June 26 from 1-3 pm at the Art by Nina Studio, located off Albert Pike Rd.. Everyone is invited to attend and get a chance to purchase original children's art. The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that wants to bring art into everyone's life.
